Always dress up for Christmas

Dexter told Delilah that Christmas is a special day and it makes it more festive if you dress up a bit for this special day.

Delilah wondered if she needed to get her claws manicured and her whiskers frosted, but Dexter said that was going a bit too far.

Dexter said that a nice festive Jacket and maybe a matching hat, and then he did a little fashion show to show her what he will be wearing.

Delilah said Dexter looked dashing!

TV cabinets can stand in for trees

Dexter told Delilah that people often think he must have a boring life because he is an indoor cat.
Delilah looked worried because she knows what it is like to live outside and it was scary out there.
Dexter told her not to worry. Although he wouldn't say no if invited on an outing in the backyard, he finds lots of excitement indoors as well. Then he proceeded to show Delilah how climbing up on the TV cabinet was just as thrilling as climbing a tree. After the TV cabinet, he got really brave and continued up to the fireplace mantel.
Delilah watched from the floor in awe. She is not yet ready to give this one a try.

Try a new perspective

Dexter told Delilah that he recommends looking at the world from upside down occasionally. It can be fascinating. He says you will be amazed at the things you will see that have been right under your nose but unnoticed before. Just today he discovered that there are some fun things to play with on the underside of the sofa.

Delilah agreed that it can be enlightening, but admits that she has trust issues and is not comfortable exposing her belly to the world like Dexter. She says this trick is best performed by exhibitionists like Dexter.

I'm back from hiatus

Dexter told Delilah that he just needed a break. Being a blogging cat is hard work and he just got too pooped to publish for the summer.

Delilah said she understood, but that people are complaining that he isn't posting and he might lose some readers if he doesn't start back up.

Dexter told Delilah that she is probably right. Beginning today he will force himself to stand up on all 4 feet and begin blogging again.

It was so nice though lounging all summer on his back in the sunshine.

Sharing the chair

Dexter told Delilah that when someone takes your favorite chair, the only thing to do, join them. He proved this when his Mom was in his favorite chair. Instead of complaining, he merely used his mom as his bed and stretched out for a long and delicious nap.

Delilah wanted to join him, but Dexter took too much room. There was none left her her.

Happiness is a soft couch

Dexter told Delilah that he loves the new couch. The arms are so soft and squishy that it feels like sleeping on a marshmallow. He has decided that it will be his new spot of choice for cat napping.

Delilah commented that he likes to sleep in the strangest positions, but Dexter didn't care. He says it just shows how blissful it is and that no one outside the house will see him anyway.

Delilah whispered so that Dexter couldn't hear "That's what you think!"

Tanning in comfort

Dexter told Delilah that he loves sleeping in the scratching post, but it would be more comfortable if it was just a wee bit longer. He told her he just loves working on his tan by the open window in Spring time, but his legs hang out the other end.

Delilah, who prefers the top level, said she sympathizes, but that it has never been a problem for her since she is so short. She also commented that his tan was looking nice.

Forget those pesky candles, just give me dinner!

Dexter told Delilah that he knows it is his 4th birthday, but Mom putting candles in his dinner was over-the-top. He said he just wanted his dinner which was already 2 whole minutes late.

Delilah told Dexter that she thought the candles were quite pretty and worth a sniff or two.

Dexter didn't answer because his mouth was full of "Tender Beef with Liver."

There's a bit of room here if you'd like to join me

Dexter told Delilah that he is SOOOOOOO tired and he wanted to take a nap in the sunny chair in the living room. Delilah complained to Dexter that she wanted to nap in that chair and she thought of it first.

Dexter responded to Delilah, that he was quicker and got there first; however, there was a bit of spare room on the edge, if she wanted to join him. She agreed and they enjoyed a nice, long and sunny nap.

Cat's can play fetch too!

Dexter told Delilah that he is crazy about those new mice Mom and Dad gave him. He says he just goes wild when he hears that "rattle" they make.

He told Delilah that he is getting lots of exercise to because Mom and Dad keep throwing them across the room and he has to bring them back so they can be thrown again. It is soooooo much fun to do this and he never tires of it.

Delilah agreed. She runs after the mice too, but unfortunately, Dexter always gets there first.

I think it's for me!

Dexter told Delilah that December was the absolute best month. Nearly every day the doorbell rang. Either people were coming to visit, or packages were being delivered. Someone named Amazon was very generous and sent many, many packages. It was so much fun even when they weren't for Dexter, he had another box to play with.

Dexter told Delilah that the doorbell ring is the best sound in the world. He always races to the door to see what great thing is on the other side.

Delilah told Dexter that he is such a risk taker. It could be "anyone" or "anything" on the other side of that door. She told him that when the doorbell rings, he should follow her lead and dash to the basement and stay there until the coast is clear.
