Yawning is essential

Dexter told Delilah that every cat has to perfect his or her yawn. The more tongue the better.

Delilah asked Dexter why. She pointed out that it isn't very lady-like.

Dexter says you have to be able to show your humans how bored you are and how you really don't care about doing what they want you to do. The perfect yawn conveys so much.

Delilah still isn't convinced, but she does admire Dexter's giant yawning abilities.

Hello to my Fan in Bristol, England

Dexter told Delilah that a "little bird" told him that someone in Bristol, England has read and enjoyed this blog. Dexter was half asleep and lounging on his favorite chair when he announced this, so Delilah wasn't sure he wasn't dreaming.

Delilah wanted to know this fan was following all of the advice too (like her).

Dexter laughed and said no. This reader is not of the feline persuasion. However, he enjoys reading about his exploits.

Delilah wanted to know if this person was a nice person.

Dexter assured her he is very nice. He can't speak cat, but he can speak like a pirate which can be very entertaining!

Live it up on your birhday

Dexter told Delilah that you have to let loose on your birthday. It is the only day of the year when Mom will let you have extra dry food and more treats than usual.

Delilah told Dexter that she doesn't need extra food. She just likes playing with the new catnip toys.

Dexter agreed that the toys were great too. In fact, he forgot all about acting aloof and like he was in charge. He just took one sniff of the catnip toy and let it all hang out!

Delilah agreed that he was really "into" the new toys and wore his tongue out licking them. She prefers to throw them into the air and jump up after them.

Dexter said that was too much work.

Happy 5th Birthday Dexter!!
